Technology Education & Manufacturing

The Technology Education and Manufacturing (Shop Academy) introduces students to woodworking, construction skills, and manufacturing concepts through hands-on learning. Students learn how to safely use tools, build projects, and understand how structures and materials work together.

By 8th grade, students have the opportunity to earn an industry-recognized carpentry certification, giving them a strong start in construction and skilled trades pathways.

What do students do?

Students work in a supervised shop environment where they practice safety procedures, learn to use hand and power tools, and complete woodworking projects. They measure materials, follow construction plans, and build projects while developing teamwork, responsibility, and pride in their work.

8th Grade

Exploration of Green Construction and Architecture Technology

Mr. Mangum

This course provides students with opportunities to become familiar with related careers and develop fundamental technological literacy. Activities are provided in a laboratory setting using hands-on experiences. Students have the opportunity to earn the Carpentry Certification.

7th Grade

Exploration of Technology (Shop)

Builds on skills learned in 6th grade, introducing advanced woodworking and construction concepts. Students expand their ability to use hand and power tools while completing multi-step builds and exploring basic carpentry concepts.
